Staples Basics And Statements For Spring

Today I’m excited to launch a new series on the blog and bring you a round up of those pieces that I feel should be on every style lover’s new season shopping list – kicking off with staples basics and statements for spring.

If like me, you work on an “out with the old, in with the new” basis, nothing feels better than to have a major sort through and de-clutter session, being honest about what you no longer wear.

Whittling down everything to just the pieces you truly love makes getting dressed a whole lot easier and also gives you the chance to keep your closet contents feeling fresh.

A seasonal overhaul is a great time to make a check list and see what you need once the edit has taken place. If you work on the basis of adding in up to three great staples, essential basics and game changer or statement pieces per season, your wardrobe will only ever be an inspiring place to gaze at in the morning!

So lets get started on this little lot for spring…

Start with the staples – that always makes good style sense! Fine cashmere, cropped jeans in a versatile blue wash and a neutral hued bag are the perfect pieces to welcome in the warmer weather.

Great basics are the building blocks for every wardrobe. Because mine work extra hard all year round, I find they show signs of wear a lot quicker. Look out for multi-buys on the good stuff and stock up at the start of each new season.

The statements are the ones that will breathe new life into your wardrobe with the very little effort. Each of these added to your look will elevate it to another level. The thought of that trench as a lightweight spring cover up that billows behind in the breeze? Perfection!

Don’t forget to hop on over to my Pinterest account where you can find a HUGE style staples board full of inspiration and plenty more. Next week I’ll be sharing some new season beauty buys to help refresh your makeup bag and daily routines.

Have you started buying any staples basics and statements for spring yet?

  1. Love this! But I fear, yet again, you are going to be the cause of some serious damage to my bank balance šŸ˜‰

  2. I have added topshop silver mettalic leather tread down loafers which will spruce up my denim collection – which are mainly crop or boyfriend styles. Will add a couple of off shoulder top – bought one recently from H&M in navy with cut-out/scallop hem which looks more expensive than price tag suggest. As for outerwear (currently all netural colours : khaki , navy and tan) I will be rotating my Other Stories fluidy trench coat from a couple of years ago and a caramel tan M&S suede trenchcoat. Still on the hunt for a top in a dusky pink and/or orange based. Just purchased a ‘necessity’ item a Rains Parka which I can wear over the cashmere/tees/tops – will me keep me dry stylish at the same time.
