Despite needing a solid block of days at my desk the week following school half-term holidays, I threw caution (and deadlines) to the wind and spent a couple of days in London for some long overdue meetings.
I fully admit that one of the things I struggle with is trying to balance the business of blogging which necessitates a lot of desk time, with family life and the need to connect with people in person – sometimes it’s hard to know what to prioritise.
But quite frankly, the thought of getting out and about and chatting to REAL people over coffee just seemed so appealing – so London won this time around. I always come back home feeling motivated and energised in terms of moving forward with the blog so told myself it was in my best interests!
Catching up with some favourite brands followed by a dinner with friends too meant an overnight stay so after the last stop over at Cheval Three Quays, there could only be one choice!
After a day of meetings in and around Regent Street, during which there was also time for lunch at the amazing Nordic Bakery and a quick pop into COS, Kate Spade and Anthropologie, I headed over to my base for the night.
South Kensington is fast becoming one of my favourite London hangouts but being an out of towner, it feels easier to try and arrange appointments as close together as possible location wise.
Cheval Harrington Court is literally a two minute walk from South Kensington tube and also happened to be a stones throw from the following morning’s meeting. That Cheval Residences signature “home from home” vibe really appeals – staying in hotels is always exciting but it’s also great to have your own space with everything to hand sometimes. And you and I both know that generally means a kitchen with a Nespresso machine!
The view from the spacious two bedroom apartment out onto Harrington Road was fabulous and I began wishing I was there for more than just the one night.
After dinner at Benares in Mayfair and a quick cab ride back, I hunkered down in bed for the night, ready to be serenaded to sleep by that familiar London hum. Except there was nothing to be heard.
Staying in the bedroom at the back of the apartment meant that I woke up in the morning thinking I was back at home in the peaceful New Forest for a minute – bliss!

Having tucked into the yummy complimentary muesli and downed two shots of Nespresso, it was time to say goodbye to my lovely abode and head off to Roots & Bulbs on Exhibition Road for a breakfast meeting. Yep…I also make that two breakfasts.
Despite the delicious array of pastries, cakes and other goodies, the breakfast smoothie option won to make up for the fact that it was a sequel!
Before leaving to catch the train that would arrive home in time for the school run, I couldn’t resist a quick wander around South Kensington’s mostly monochrome streets, stopping to soak up those London energy levels.
Once home I persuaded my junior outfit snapper to take a pic of day two’s outfit. This Mango culotte pinafore is a firm favourite right now, its such an easy piece to wear and the Aldo flats served well as a pair of running all over London shoes.
Until next time beautiful London!
