Have The Confidence To Be Your Best Self

Sometimes an opportunity to support a campaign comes along that you just feel is meant to be.

That’s exactly how I felt when Karen Millen got in touch and asked if I would like to lend my voice to their Women Who Can campaign.

This year they’ve joined forces with the incredible Step Up Club. If you haven’t yet discovered this online destination set up by Alice Olins and Phanella Mayall Fine specifically to help women find their own success then you need to get acquainted super fast!

And the aim of this stylishly smart collaboration? To give you the confidence to be your best self.

Maybe now you can see why I jumped at the chance to be involved!

From my beginnings as a fledgling blogger some nine years ago right up until today, I’ve noticed a very pleasing culture that appears to be growing at an extremely satisfying rate – women supporting women.

It’s certainly not unique to to blogging and I’m sure not unique to women entrepreneurs either but these are the arenas where I’m experiencing it over and over again. And it makes me so happy!

“What if I fall?
Oh, my darling, what if you fly”

It feels like a supportive net has gradually been cast over the community of blogging, Instagram and business and everyday I see women championing each other.

They’re offering advice, a listening ear or words of encouragement when the going gets tough.

We celebrate our successes with one another and share pools of knowledge that we think others might find useful.

“Your vibe attracts your tribe

We stand tall knowing that it’s okay to show and embrace our imperfections and admit that as business owners, mothers and just plain old busy human beings, we don’t always get it right.

I feel that since this supportive culture has grown and developed, I’ve made real progress as a business blogger but also learnt so much more about what drives me and what really matters in life.

then I do the things”

So in celebration of this uplifting campaign, I’m sharing my own answers to a few of the Women Who Can questions below.

And, in line with my mantra on the Online Stylist About Page that what we wear can really impact how we feel about ourselves, I’ve selected some confidence boosting pieces from Karen Millen that would help me feel I could take on the world!

Who is your woman who can?

Well I’m proud to say I know quite a few and they all inspire me for so many different reasons. But if I have to pick one then it’s my friend Laura Turner – founder of Hero in Stockbridge, former blogger, mum of three and all round flippin’ amazing person!

I could not succeed without…

My husband Patrick, aka Mr OS. He cheers me on, helps out on the child and dog care front, provides tech support, steps in with the camera when required and is just generally my voice of reason. Which I require often!

“We rise by lifting others”

What advice would you give your younger self?

Stop trying to hide away in the background. Stand up for what you believe in. Believe in your abilities. NEVER accept anyone who makes you feel cr*p about yourself.

What’s the bravest thing you’ve ever done?

Realising at the age of 21 that the man I had hastily married was bad for me and facing up to the fact that I had to get out of the mess I’d gotten myself into.
Via a number of painful steps in a long drawn out process, I removed myself from the situation and started all over again.

What song makes you feel you could take on the world?

Titanium by David Guetta with the amazing Sia… on full volume. My accompanying vocal support isn’t quite so inspiring though!

If I had a mathematical style formula, it would read:

Black + White + Grey + Cashmere = Style Nirvana.

“She designed a life she loved”

Success is…

Feeling like you’ve managed to design a life you love.

you are without having to speak”
