After a recent trip to London, rather than returning to the New Forest, I hopped off the train a few stops early to meet Mr OS for a mini-escape to Winchester and an overnight stay at hannah’s, a boutique B&B.
I’d recently heard great things about Hannah and her beautiful Winchester hideaway and so couldn’t wait to see it for myself.
Tucked away in a courtyard in Parchment Street, this beautiful building that was once a livery and then a dance studio is now a peacefully pretty place where Hannah plays host to guests in her wonderfully welcoming home.
And what a home it is. The attention to detail is second to none with Hannah’s stylish stamp appearing on so many elements that add up to make this an absolute dream of a place to escape to.
Step through a door that could be straight out of the most stylish Instagram feed (you’ve seen the #IHaveThisThingWithDoors hashtag right?), through to the entrance hall where a piano takes centre stage.
Save the library and courtyard exploration for later and climb the stairway to three individually decorated rooms ranging from a New York style loft to the sumptuous luxury of Room 98 that was our home for the night.
If you’re fond of super king beds, Egyptian cotton sheets, a bathtub big enough for two high up on a mezzanine balcony and a bathroom complete with fluffy towels and thoughtfully placed toiletries then you need to come and stay here!
So relaxing was the vibe that it was somewhat tempting to cancel our dinner reservation, snaffle some supplies and hide in our room for the evening.
And so to the breakfast part of bed and breakfast… and my favourite time of day.
After a blissful night’s sleep, we meandered downstairs to enjoy freshly made juice, homemade granola with yoghurt, toast and homemade preserves followed by a locally sourced English breakfast and of course, tea and coffee aplenty.
I enjoyed a long chat with Hannah before we departed and her creativity, dedication and sheer hard work that she puts into her boutique Winchester hideaway left me feeling really inspired. Not only that but she’s every bit as lovely as the place she’s created – get to meet her and you’ll know exactly what I mean!
A warm hug and a to-go snack of homemade shortbread later and it was time to say goodbye. Although I suspect we might have to return and try out the other two rooms in time. All in the name of research you understand…
Room rates from £185 per night – book online here or call on 01962 840632
A big thank you to Hannah for having Mr OS and I to stay and for allowing me to introduce her beautiful B&B to Online Stylist readers!
