Love Simple Style At Home? Try These…

Inspirations & Shopping Resources For Simple Style At Home

Is it okay to have a mixed approach to minimal living?

Half modern farmhouse, half slick Scandi apartment?

If Scandinavian design is a balance of minimal aesthetics and functionality with values rooted in the daily joy found in simple things, then I think Scandi farmhouse is where I would ultimately be aiming for.

We reside in neither a farmhouse, modern or otherwise, or a sleek Scandi apartment. Our abode is a 70’s mid-terrace three bed in a New Forest village meaning that any form of farmhouse vibe would look a bit out of place once you walked in.

…if I had the chance
to do it all again…

I’m sure this is a song lyric from the distant regions of my oft muddled head (sing along with me now), but if I had the chance to do it all again and build a new home afresh, I’d work hard to nail down my aesthetic.

To the white washed, wooden floorboards.

Just as blogging and all that goes with it *looks at Pinterest and Instagram*, has had a huge influence on my personal style, so it has too when it comes to my interiors leanings. It opens up a whole world of possibilities with once click of the mouse.

If those personal style experiments are anything to go by (insert scream face emoji here), its no wonder that I’m yearning to change more than a few things some fifteen years down the line.

All of the major work was done then (read kitchen and bathroom) and with our changing tastes, it now feels ripe for a makeover.

I completely blame the Living Room Project for an interiors obsession that just won’t be silenced. But whilst my ideas are raring to go, the bank balance however doesn’t quite match my enthusiasm!

So for now I’ll keep gathering ideas and absorbing signature minimal with styles by osmosis, attempting to find the right one for this house.

Here are a few of my favourite inspiration and shopping resources…

For Inspiration

damsel in dior bathroom on My Domaine

I was hooked on the Home Sweet Damsel video series as Jacey began revealing her home renovations. This woman’s sense of style goes way beyond the contents of her closet as this piece on My Domaine proves.

Check our her videos and interior inspo here.

County Road Living minimal country farmhouse

I completely blame Angie Wendricks for the minimal farmhouse style obsession taking hold in the first place! Her Instagram documentation of their Indiana country house is my calming, happy place.

Katerina documents her own interior style as well as other beautiful designs and inspiration too like this one on Fantastic Frank. I first discovered her images on Pinterest and have been hooked on Only Deco Love ever since.

I was excited to recently read that Katerina is soon moving to a new apartment in Oslo and am now preparing for a multitude of minimalist coveting.

Shop COS X HAY Crinkle Throw

COS X HAY – Crinkle Throw

I always have and always will be hooked on their clothing but the COS X HAY collection is now slowly invading my home. Which is totally fine with me.

Garden trading style and function for home and garden

Garden Trading – Clockhouse Hallway Bench

If we’re talking Scandi in the country then Garden Trading have a plethora of things you’d want to incorporate in your home.

We’ve acquired a few wood burner accessories and a couple of log baskets from them…and then I had to force myself to step away from the Add To Basket icon.

Wood Grey – Market Basket

When it comes to home accessories, candles and other must-have goodies, you’d be hard placed to beat a recent discovery, Wood Grey.

Just don’t get distracted by all the gorgeous basket bags. You have been warned!

Made.com Bramante dining table

Made.com – Bramante White Gloss Dining Table

For reasonably priced but high quality furniture, we’ve turned to Made.com a few times now – my all time favourite acquisition being the white gloss dining table.

Dinner, additional work space over-spill and the perfect Instagram flat lay background to boot!

  3. Thank you Amanda for including me 🙂

Honestly I am equally parts excited and terrified about the move! I have too many ideas and I just can’t make up my mind on how I want it to look. So right now if someone was to ask me, I really have no idea of how the final result will be, as I said before , I will start in the bedroom and go from there hehe

    1. You’re so welcome Katerina! I can completely imagine the dilemma – it just feels like you want to get it right when you’re spending money doesn’t it? Good luck and I’m sure whatever you do will be amazing!
