As much as I loved breaking out of the eternal comfort zone and wearing a bit of colour this summer, Boy does it feel good to be back in neutral territory now that the temperatures are cooling!
Being a style creature of habit, I draw a certain amount of comfort from easy to wear pieces, unfussy shapes and just enough detail to pique my interest. I’ve been a big fan of the John Lewis label, Kin ever since it came out. It really reminds me of labels like COS and Arket. No surprise really as it’s heritage is based firmly in Scandi territory.
Towards the end of summer, I was thrilled to be asked to produce a sponsored Instagram post for the label and as per usual, we ended up shooting a fair few images to get The One. Except this time I was happy with more than the usual one or two out of fifty so thought I’d show you the full outfit here if you like minimal staples for autumn.
how I style it
By tearing up the rule book that says you can’t wear navy with black and wearing it with a pair of cropped black trousers. Mine are from a few seasons ago at hush – this autumn they’ve brought the longer Winona trousers back if cropped isn’t your thing.
Because early autumn is still good for ankle exposure, I’ve been making the most of a shoe staple – the backless loafer. This Sam Edelman pair are from Shoeaholics and I LOVE them! And as for the Kin backpack? That’s my nod to the back to school season and is perfect for days when I need the laptop along for the ride.
The top is the perfect length to wear with skinny jeans or leather leggings too. Now those I can’t wait to break out again this winter!

Whilst I was asked to produce this sponsored Instagram post for John Lewis, they didn’t ask me to feature the pieces on the blog. I chose to because I love them!
