With the arrival of a teaser of spring in the form of sunny days and the first half term holiday in full swing, it feels like the year is already beginning its rapid descent into full speed ahead mode, stopping to wait for no one.
An event that happened to a very dear friend this past month once again made me think about the importance of friendship. I always marvel that we can sit together in the saddest of times and yet still find something to make us smile and share some much needed laughter. Definitely something that never goes out of style.

Speaking of style, whilst I still love to thumb through the glossies and pour over editorials, when it comes to outfit inspiration I have a definite bias toward to street style sites, blogs, Tumblr and Pinterest boards these days. Vanessa Jackman takes gorgeous photographs, The Street Style is definitely worth a look and don’t even get me started on what happens when you type Street Style into Pinterest. Prepare to click and fall down the rabbit hole.

Sweet stuff will always be one of life’s small pleasures for me… and the perfect excuse to take time out for a spot of baking for Junior Child’s school cake stall. This coming from the woman who spent the last two years buying substitutes from Waitrose, handing them into the school office and running away in a haze of mummy guilt.
Amid clouds of chocolate powder and wooden spook licking breaks, we came up with the gooey creations above. But I’m not sure whether there was a valid excuse was for these…

…or indeed these.

In my last post I mentioned our Puggle puppy hunt and those who check in regularly on Twitter and Instagram will know that things have moved on slightly. On March 1st we’ll be bringing home this bundle of beautiful yellow Labrador who’s been christened Biscuit!

These pictures were taken at our last visit when she was six weeks old and to say we have already fall head over heels in love with her would be an understatement.

Having had dogs before, I know we’re about to re-enter a stage in life similar to when you bring a newborn baby home, except with less nappies and more energy. But I absolutely can’t wait to have this particular four legged version of one of life’s small pleasures in our family. And besides, looking at Junior Child’s wistful doodles and the expression on her face below…

…I would say it’s more than likely we’ve made her wish come true.
Have you been adding anything to your Life’s Small Pleasures this month?

Biscuit is beautiful!!!! My Mum has had a couple of chocolate labs and they are just the sweetest natured things ever
I love street style, it’s so much easier to imagine myself wearing those clothes than those worn by the tall, skinny models on the catwalk. It’s nice to fantasise about the catwalk stuff but street style is real!
Ooooh Biscuit is so cute. Adorable.
I dream of having a dog but a job in London with the potential for long days and a tendency to travel at the weekend a lot would be unfair on any pet. I’ve promised myself a dog when I retire, which with the economy as it is plus my ability to spend myself silly (especially on Upper Street shoes!), will probably be when I am about 70.. or maybe 80.
The look on JC’s face says it all – you have made her wish come true!
Pictures of your puppy made me go ‘aaaahhhhhh’ aloud! The cutest little thing, it’s sweet head! I grew up with a lab – so great with kids, dreadful scavengers though, have to keep them from rooting about in cak when out with them.
I am totally smitten by Biscuit! What a cutie.
