If this cold weather makes you want to hibernate, take a look at the latest crop of beauty products that are helping to make the days brighter, skin a little more dewy and hair somewhat less parched.

First up a very welcome Christmas gift that was kindly sent to me by Clinique – their new Moisture surge mask – £28 (1). Putting to good use the hours spent asleep, this no-rinse formula mask delivers exactly what it says – a powerful moisture surge to leave your skin feeling softer, more supple and ready to face the day. I’ve been using it once a week and I absolutely love it. Available from Clinique counters now and online here.

Winter evenings indoors are perfect for home manicures – I love nothing better than waking up on a dull day to prettily painted nails. I recently read that nail guru Sophie Robson has discovered the perfect shade of Tiffany blue…and you can get it for £6.50 at ASOS! POP Nail Glam Pastel Polish in Mint Magic (2) is going on my list to buy for spring colours. For a luxurious treat I’m also craving YSL La Laque Couture polish in Jade Imperial (3) – who wouldn’t want a little couture for £18?

I seem to be developing an obsession for beauty products with a rose scent of late. When I recently bought the YSL Forever Youth Liberator tonic, I was given some sachets of their Forever Youth Liberator serum (4) and promptly fell in love with it. It’s pricey at £80 but a truly amazing skincare product and for me, the serum is much better investment than the tonic. It goes on like silk, smells like rose scented heaven and has definitely makes it onto my Life’s Small Pleasures list as part of a daily beauty routine.

Finally onto haircare and my continued quest to quell parched fly away ends. I’ve recently gone back to one of my first loves –  Kiehls Creme With Silk Groom £18 – £28 (5). If I’m opting for straight locks I comb it through damp hair pre-blow dry. If curls are on the menu, I use a much smaller amount on the ends of hair that has been left to dry naturally – tie in a ponytail, twist round into a bun, pin and leave for half an hour. Voila! Silky looking waves and no more frizzy ends. One tip – store the bottle upside down as it’s quite a heavy texture and can be difficult to squeeze out.

Last but by no means least, I’ve just realised I can get my Kérastase products a whole lot cheaper here at Gorgeous Shop. I’ve previously been buying them individually at a local hair salon – foolish mistake. Having recently purchased the Nutritive Combi pack – £46.36 (6), I was pleased to see delivery is free and the products are much cheaper. You can of course also buy the individual items if that’s all you need.

Do you have a new favourite product for winter or a money saving beauty tip to share?

I’ve been obsessed with Rose scented products this year. I went to Bulgaria on holiday which is one of the two places where the roses used in essential oils are grown and brought back a bunch of products made there, which were remarkably good value but also very effective. Just need to find somewhere that imports them into the UK…

Like the sound of that Clinique mask too. I don’t get on with some of their face products though I love the make up. However, the moisture surge face gel cream is lovely so I imagine the mask would be great too. I’ve used sample tubes on long flights before and my skin is dewy soft when I get off without being at all greasy.

Thank you so much for telling us about Gorgeous Shop – they have a fantastic range including my favourite Dermalogica all on offer. I’m off to beauty shop…

  5. Yes I agree all us girls simply love rose scented things…and why not thats what makes us soo feminine!
