Yesterday I had the absolute pleasure of experiencing a pre-Christmas “Spa”rkle spa day at Chewton Glen. It also happened to be Mr Online Stylist’s birthday so given the opportunity to come along, relax and do nothing, he jumped at the chance.
Every year I vow to be more organised and get Christmas plans and shopping wrapped up, literally, a lot earlier. And every year it never happens. Instead I find myself running around like a headless turkey, trying to fit it all in alongside work and day to day life. So the chance to spend a day being pampered and just taking time to relax seemed like my Christmas had arrived early.
Chewton Glen offer a number of spa day packages and each year you can enjoy the “Spa”rkle day from 1st to 31st December – to see what’s included, click here.
We arrived post school run, checked in over coffee and pastries and were given a tour of the spa. Having snuggled into fluffy robes and soft towelling slippers we spent a very pleasant hour or two swimming, relaxing in the hydrotherapy pool and reading on heated loungers.
After an incredible neck back and shoulder massage that left me feeling floppy limbed and utterly blissed out, we reclined under a ceiling of twinkly stars in the relaxation room, before heading into the restaurant for a buffet lunch.
As you’d expect from Chewton Glen, the food on offer looked and tasted amazing whilst retaining the healthy element you’d want from a spa experience. Complimented nicely by the glass of fizz to help add sparkle to the day!
Before going home I had a manicure with a lovely therapist who gave me plenty of advice on how to better look after my poor keyboard abused, flaky nails.
It was a truly wonderful day and for me, the best part was being able to unwind and concentrate on nothing but the moment; spent in fabulous surroundings where the staff manage to be both discreet and there for your every need.
