Tis The Season!

This weekend is all about getting ready for Christmas and indulging in our favourite festive preparations! Today we’re off on a family trip to London aimed solely at indulging Junior Child’s wishes – a morning at the Science Museum and an afternoon spent seeking out the best Christmas lights. Pretty much takes care of my wishes too.

On Sunday we’ll be decorating the tree and festooning the house in festive fripperies. Earlier in the week I popped into Ralph Lauren on Bond Street to buy the Holiday candle and we lit it for the first time last night. It has a seasonal fragrance like no other and fills the house with the most sublime smell of recurrent, evergreen and juniper.

This is the time of year I love to indulge in faux fur aplenty and my Gap parka with its fur trim hood, the Michael Kors snood and of course, 2nd DAY Fashion Woof are helping to maintain my obsession.

We’ve already broken out JC’s Christmas PJ’s and now I’m toying with the idea of a pair for myself. I adore these DKNY folded heart pyjamas – a festive feel but grown up enough to indulge in.

I could probably fulfil every seasonal cliche by this time next week…log fires, roasted chestnuts, gathering holly and pine cones, drinking sherry as I write Christmas cards. Yep…they’ll be all ticked off by Wednesday at the latest.

Oh and here’s one I left off the list above…a glittery manicure. Deborah Lippmann’s Good Girl Gone Bad is perfect for adding on top of any red polish for festive fingertips.

If you’re still not feeling the seasonal goodwill cheer, go and wander along New Bond Street and gaze at the wonderful windows and beautiful decorations. Then come home, and watch Love Actually with a large glass of something warming. That ought to do it.

And last but by no means least – when the Starbucks red cups arrive, I know there’s no going back. I only had my first one in London this week but fully intend to make up for the deficit from here on in.

How do you get into the seasonal spirit and will you be starting your holiday season preparation this weekend?

This weekend we’ll be getting a tree or two and decorating the house. I can’t wait for all the twinkling white lights and sparkle. Out come the Christmas story books too. We love to visit Oregon zoo which has the most fabulous Christmas lights, and of course Santa at Maceys.

As a child I loved to see the Christmas lights on Regent St and the tree in Trafalger Sq.
