Winter Whites

Among the gazillion other things I would have said in life pre blog, one of them is that whites should remain firmly in the summer section of the closet. All it took was a few clicks around the glorious cyber world where anything is possible and I was instantly converted to winter whites.

Translating the theory from the glossy inspirational imagery of Tumblr and Pinterest to the reality of a How To post is a another matter. I think in most instances the white should be more of an off white or ivory – whilst that doesn’t make for a pretty post title, it does make the look instantly more wearable.

I would wear white on the top half only, although that doesn’t stop me gazing longingly at the frothy skirt worn by the woman getting into a cab in picture above. Perhaps in another life. Meanwhile here are two looks I would happily wear…

Mix white with other neutrals – these Goldsign Misfit jeans in grey and the Marc by Marc Jacobs nude tote look great with white. And if anyone can make white look luxurious it’s Michael Kors – that peacoat is a dream of a jacket.

I love the subtle sparkle of this Phase Eight skirt paired with the chunky See By Chloé knit. If you can brave the cold I think this would look best with bare legs that have been introduced to the faux glow – definitely one for days with minimal outdoor exposure time.

Whites look good with silver and sparkle jewellery – perfect for a festive, winter wonderland feel. Caramel, tan and brown accessories bring a luxe feel to a neutral backdrop for day wear and have a go at layering too. I really like tonal whites worn layered together – think sheer shirts peeking out from under a white winter woolly.
