Yesterday I had the absolute pleasure of being a guest of Chewton Glen to attend the Guy Kremer Fabulous Hair And Fashion Flare lunch. It was the perfect antidote to waking up to a very grey and rainy Monday morning.
International celebrity hairdresser Guy Kremer was joined by renowned British fashion designer Maria Grachvogel and Tracy Lea Sayer, fashion director at Fabulous magazine. Not only is Chewton Glen my own heavenly local retreat but in ties to life pre-blog, my wedding dress was by Maria and before moving to my current location, I entrusted my hair cut and colour to Guy’s salon in Winchester for many years.
After enjoying coffee, we were ushered to our seats and treated to a demonstration by the talented and charismatic Guy. As he worked his magic on a model, creating a voluminous modern day homage to Brigitte Bardot, we were regaled with anecdotes from his world of international celebrity hairdressing. I honestly think I could have listened to him all day!
After a talk from Tracy on seasonal trends and glamour on a high street budget, Maria Grachvogel showcased some of her AW12 collection. I was enamoured with not only the pieces that we saw but even more so with her ethos of creating beautiful and functional designs for all women. The current collection inspired by the jazz era is full of relaxed pieces that epitomise the effortless way that modern women dress and it really resonated with me. You can see more here – fabulously cut trousers including those famous Magic Pants sit side by side with hand painted prints digitally applied to the fabric of beautiful gowns that move with fluidity and grace.
Over a delicious lunch of beetroot cured salmon, confit of duck and a warm chocolate mousse, it was lovely to chat with like minded women, sit back and just soak up the atmosphere. I was thrilled to see Julia from Stanwells too – it’s always wonderful to run into a fashion friend but I was more pleased to see her take a rare time out from the business of covetable clothing!
