Regular readers will know that last year, I was really excited to discover US label Eileen Fisher when they opened two UK stores in London. So I’m thrilled to be able to share some of the new found label love with you through a giveaway of a one of their gorgeous summer silk pieces.
Eileen Fisher very kindly sent me this beautiful sheer silk Georgette Round Neck Box-Top in a rich shade of Dark Primrose. Light and fluttery, it’s a perfect summer layering piece…although as you can see, the weather was far from perfect or summery when we took these pictures!
Looking at the top, it’s easy to see how it would work for summer but both the weather I decided that it would work for cooler, and wetter days too. In the name of fashion blogging, I stood beside the water, shed my trench coat and braved the elements – much to the bemusement, and I suspect amusement, of the nearby yachtsmen who were far more appropriately dressed than I.
The irony of the fact that their yacht was named Summer Breeze was not lost on me as I stood shivering in the rain. But I did take comfort from the fact that at least the grey background would make the colour of the top stand out and the gusting winds would showcase the movement of the fabric beautifully! Every rain cloud…

Regardless of finances, I make sure to collect a couple of pieces of EF each season. Just wore a long linen skirt yesterday that garnered lots of “ooh, where’d you get that?” comments. It was an EF, of course, and I bought it in 1994! Looks as great as her pieces I’ve bought in 2012. True investment clothing.

This is a beautiful summer top in a inspiring raspberry color which gives it a certain “pop,” and the fabric is soft and supple. It will look beautiful with navy, brown, khaki, black & white, & especially a loden green! Ooooh, now I think I really want one!!!
