Gift Guide For The Beauty Product Obsessed

From what I read of my fellow fashion bloggers posts, I’m not the only one who gets that feeling of excitement when you realise you have to go beauty product shopping to stock up on essentials. Never a chore and always a thrill, the feeling of browsing around Boots or wandering around touching everything in the John Lewis beauty hall is right up there with handing over the cash for a new pair of shoes for me. And don’t even get me started on the quickening of the pulse that happens when I walk into Space NK.

Christmas is the perfect time to ask Santa for those indulgent beauty treats that you might consider to be too frivolous for the rest of the year. And if you’re shopping for a friend with a beauty product obsession then life can’t be any easier. Except you may find yourself having an inner battle with the “One for her, one for me” mantra. Here’s my edit of product perfection that would make any girls Christmas beautiful…

Maison Martin Margeila Untitled Candle – £60, Tom Ford Neroli Portofino Candle – £50, Jo Malone Roasted Chestnut Limited Edition Deluxe Candle – £80, Diptyque Limited Edition Pin Scented Candle – £38. All at Selfridges.

Mention the words scented and candle to a beauty product junkie and she’ll be all over you like a Vogue editor at a Louboutin sample sale. Selfridges have a fantastic selection both in store and online – throw in the words “limited edition”, “only at” or “exclusive” and you’ll have a friend for life.

Aromatherapy Associates Little Star Exclusive De-Stress Oil – £10 Space.NK, No7 & Poppy King Celebrate Balmy & Beautiful Kit – £10 Boot.com, Mor Lip Macaron Passion Flower - £11.50 Space.NK, Cath Kidston Rose Talcum Powder Puff -£10 John Lewis, Lancome Juicy Tubes Gift Set – £15.30 John Lewis

Beauty products make the perfect stocking fillers and don’t need to cost the earth – indulge in the delight of traditional rose scents with a Cath Kidston Talcum Powder Puff or give the gift of great gloss with a Lancome Juicy Tubes gift set.

Chanel Le Vernis Nail Colour, Particuliere – £17.50 Selfridges, YSL Le Smoking Eyeshadow Palette – £33.15 John Lewis, Lady Dior Palette – £61.50 Selfridges, Burberry Body Oil Mist – £29.75 John Lewis, Viktor & Rolf Limited Edition Flowerbomb eau de parfum – £76.00 Selfridges

Christmas is the perfect excuse for luxury and whilst we can rarely afford to buy the very best in clothing, accessories and shoes, receiving something from the beauty line of one of your favourite names brings on those label lust butterflies in all their glory.

Fearne Who’s Gorgeous Cosmetics Palette – £25 Boots.com, Nars Mini Shadow Pencil Set Limited Edition – £39 Space.NK, Bobbi Brown Pink Quartz Shimmer Brick – £25.93 John Lewis, Giorgio Armani Exclusive Mini Brush Set – £75 Selfridges, Laura Mercier Full Faux Lashes – £14.50 Space.NK

A girl can never have too many cosmetics at her disposal so whether you choose to give a great value set such as the Fearne Cotton palette from Boots or an iconic product like the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick, it’s sure to be received with excited exclamations of good tidings and joy.

Which beauty product would you most like to find in your Christmas stocking this year?

Excellent selection! I especially like the candles and the Cath Kidston talcum powder, for the retro look of its packaging.
Although,as much as I love beauty products, part of the pleasure is testing, sniffing and touching before you buy. That’s why my loved ones often get me Sephora gift vouchers rather than the actual products. Fingers crossed I’ll get one this year too!

The quickening of pulse on entering Space NK raises to out and out thumping when I push open those heavy revolving doors of Selfridges! I do love it and I have a secret hope of getting the Tom Ford Portofino this year. My only peeve at Xmas ( and it is a spoilt girls peeve) is a set where one colour is fab and the rest are ‘meh’ and never get used. I would rather just get one gorgeous luxurious one than a huge set that takes up loads of room and just sits there the rest of the year……just saying…….

My confession: I am so guilty of buying one for you and one for me! Its great when you can buy 3 for 2 or 2 for 1 that way there’s no guilt at all. I look out for the sanctuary products in Boots, as I love the body wash, body cream, exfoliators and scrubs! I bought Maison Martin Mageila perfume a while ago, its one of my favourites.

I do love beauty products and candles but I have to confess I am hoping that no one buys me any this year – I’ve accumulated a bit of a backlog and I am on a bit of a decluttering mission. But if I had room for anything more, then it would have to be something from Ren – their stuff smells sooo good. I adore the neroli and grapefruit shower gel and body lotion.
