The Perfect Ballet Flat At Upper Street

In my capacity as blog contributor for Upper Street, I am often privy to exciting developments going on within this incredible bespoke shoe design company. Sometimes its very hard to keep quiet about it – especially when it’s about something so close to my shoe loving heart!

When I heard they were going to be launching the ballet flat I was beside myself with glee. The perfect statement flat has become an important quest in my life since I’ve regularly started going to London for blog related events. I love wearing heels to many of them but I always need a pair of flats in my bag to help make running to and fro and the long journey home easier to bear. How nice it would be to have a flat to wear that means I don’t always have to add in heels – one that makes a statement and says “Hello Lover!”.

My employers must have been sympathetic to my plight as they offered me the wonderful chance to design my own exclusive ballet flat prior to the launch this week. My overworked feet haven’t stopped sighing in delight since! Unlike the first shoe I designed with Upper Street, this time I knew exactly what I wanted – it had to be in leopard and it had to be fierce….Grrrr!

Having designed about a squillion shoes whilst writing their blog posts and also seen some gorgeous press samples the last time I was in the studio, I found it very easy to decide. Using their pre-launch sketches and playing about in the shoe designer I came up with a on a leopard print flat with a chocolate brown suede, studded toe cap.

As soon as the ballet flat went live in the shoe designer yesterday, I was straight on there to create it so I could see what my design would look like. Here’s a sneak preview…

As I was lucky enough to get my order in a few weeks early, I’ll be able to share my living, breathing, oh-so-beautiful ballet flat with you soon. Talk about Christmas come early! Thank you Upper Street… I cannot wait for that pink ribbon bedecked, glossy black shoe box to arrive!

Are you a shoe lover? If so, have you visited the Upper Street shoe designer and created a ballet flat to fall head over heels in love with yet?

I adore the studs!! If I wasn’t on a little shopping splurge ban, I’d be heading straight over and making some – I’m a complete flats girl through and through!!

Love your leopard print ones too :)

Oh, you are such a lucky girl! I love ballet flats and live in them over the weekends. I also think the Upper Street website is incredible and I was so excited the first time you led me to it! A site where you can design your own shoes! I’ve forwarded it to many friends. One day I will own a pair … xx

I went to a focus group for Upper Street a couple of weeks ago and have a £100 voucher to spend on shoes made by them and have been waiting for the ballet pumps to be released as I live in flats much of the time.

Heels look great, but I wear them less these days as I walk and use public transport far more in London than I used to when I lived in Hampshire. I tend to leave my heels under the desk for when I get to the office, limit the risk of twisting my ankle coming down the stairs on the bus. (I am sufficiently accident prone its a real risk!!)

I haven’t quite decided on the design yet, but I wear a lot of teal blue so am thinking about doing a navy pump with contrast teal details – maybe toe and heel with a little bow.

I’m planning to go for a session at their studio to look at the materials and get the fit just right.

    • Wow.. thats fabulous! How funny that we used to work in the same office and now you’re getting shoes at Upper Street! You’ll have to let me know how you get on – was so excited about the ballet flats. I think they’ll do really well. Us girls need great flats and to be able to customise your own is just perfect.

      Have fun designing! x

Well, it’s not so much of a coincidence. I found your blog because Mr Online Stylist mentioned it when I saw him at a conference, and it was through reading your blog I read about Upper Street. So I have you to thank for pointing me in their direction :-) x

        • Ah.. I did wonder about the connection! Am glad you have found Upper Street – may your relationship with them be a long and happy one! x

I went to their sample sale today and came away with three pairs of shoes, a gold round toe mary jane brogue, a bronze platform peep toe sandal and a turquoise mix platform mary jane too. I am definitely a HUGE fan now :-) x

  5. At last a pump. Can’t wait to try it out. Well done Upper Street.
